It is usually the first question families ask us, and a fair one. Himalayan and Persian kittens are not cheap, and prices you see online can vary wildly. Here is an honest breakdown from a breeder who has been raising both breeds in Northern Virginia since 1995.
Our price: $1,400 per kitten

- A clean, signed bill of health from our vet, confirming the kitten is free of genetic defects, fleas, parasites and ringworm
- The first set of shots, given on schedule
- A wellness checkup before the kitten leaves

- Feeding and grooming guidance for week one, and a breeder who answers the phone for life

What Himalayan and Persian kittens typically cost
Across the United States, pet-quality Himalayan and Persian kittens from home breeders are commonly priced somewhere between about $1,000 and $3,000. Kittens sold with breeding rights, show prospects and some sought-after colours are often priced higher.
Prices well below that range are worth a closer look. Raising a healthy litter properly — vet visits, vaccines, health testing, good food and daily handling — has real costs, and those costs have to come from somewhere.
What affects the price of a kitten
Health testing and vet care
Persian-type breeds carry a known inherited risk of polycystic kidney disease (PKD). A breeder who tests for it, works with a vet year round and sends kittens home with a signed bill of health is investing in the kitten before you ever meet it.
How the kittens are raised
Kittens raised in the house, handled every day and used to children and other pets settle into a new home far more easily than kittens raised in cages. That time is part of what you are paying for.
Colour and coat

Pet or breeding rights
Most families are adopting a pet. Kittens sold with the right to breed are usually priced higher.
Red flags on a cheap Persian or Himalayan kitten
- No vet paperwork, or paperwork you are not allowed to see
- No mention of PKD testing
- You cannot visit, or cannot meet the parents
- Kittens offered younger than eight weeks
- Pressure to pay a deposit before you have seen the kitten or spoken to the breeder
